Exposición de escultura de Saúl Jaime Martínez

El viernes 28  de mayo se inauguró la exposición del escultor Saúl Jaime en un ambiente agradable y cordial, los asistentes se mostraron complacidos al apreciar las obras de este artista radicado en la isla desde ya hace varios años  y que ama con gran pasión. A mostrando ese amor  participando como maestro en talleres y cursos para los cozumeleños despertando el interés hacia el arte en la sociedad de San Miguel de Cozumel. Una de las características esenciales de sus obras es el detalle que impregna en cada una de ellas, un cuidado esmerado para hacer resaltar la belleza intrínseca de la madera que utiliza ya sea rescatada de las playas de la isla o adquirida de otra manera.

A continuación la entrevista que hizo Art News Cozumel a dos jóvenes de Cozumel asistentes en la noche inaugural.     

Entrevista a Eli Acevedo

-Soy estudiante del noveno semestre de ingeniería ambiental.

-¿Cuál es tu opinión de esta exposición?

-Me encantó, pero algo que me llamó bastante la atención justamente es por el tema de la ingeniería ambiental, es porque parte de las obras de esta exposición fue catalogada como residuo vegetal anterior, está revalorizando, es una súper revalorización que actualmente es una obra de arte que está en un museo y algo que comenta el escultor en su reseña que son piezas de árboles que estuvieron en la playa, en la calle y que actualmente viaja,  cruzar fronteras, pudieron estar expuestos aquí, pudieron estar expuestas en otras partes del mundo y crear un poco de consciencia, sensibilizar a través del arte, porque en sus piezas está plasmado por ejemplo" La niña Cozumeleña" la riqueza el tesoro de los océanos que tenemos en Cozumel, el "Delfín feliz" está poniendo en contexto temas que son importantes, que nos tocan a todos como seres humanos y en gran parte como sociedad.

- ¿Cuál es tú opinión sobre las manifestaciones artísticas de la isla , no solamente las visuales? 

- Creo que falta más arte, solamente hay un museo, podríamos tener un museo de arte contemporáneo, un museo de arte regional, un museo de escultura quizá , no sé de diferentes tipos, de diferentes subcontextualizaciones y prestar también más atención; a la poesía, la música. Con la pandemia se cerraron y alteraron  actividades artísticas y culturales en el mundo, pero también fue un impulso porque bastantes artistas durante esta década emergieron. A partir del contrastes solos consigo mismos, de hacer una introspección profunda referente tal vez quien soy, a que le dedico a mi tiempo, revalorizar, estar más con lo seres queridos y fue como un respiro en general muy global, creo qua a partir de esto impulsarnos para tener una transición a un Cozumel más artístico podría ser, yo creo.

-¿Hablando de poesía que te gustaría de actividades poéticas?

-Un Club de Poesía, podríamos ver la manera en la cual cada viernes 7 P.M. 8:30 P.M. micrófono abierto, poesía o afín, compartir una canción, un relato o una carta leerla y va a ser un mensaje para una gente, compartirlo a un espectador. Creo que el regalo más bonito que tenemos los humanos es compartir conocimientos, experiencias emociones, sentimientos, algo que nos une a todos, todos somos humanos, todos sentimos, tenemos emociones, eso nos conecta a todos, nos hace bellos y hermosos.

-¿Algo más que quieras decir?

Que visiten definitivamente ésta exposición, es una experiencia muy gratificante visitar y apreciar el lenguaje de nuestras raíces a través del artista Saúl Jaime Martínez y también la increíble muestra del Maestro Shinzaburo Takeda.

Entrevista a Sofía Reynoso

-Mi nombre es Sofía Reynoso y soy estudiante de octavo semestre de la carrera de negocios internacionales.

-¿Me das por favor tu opinión de esta exposición?

-Se me hizo muy interesante, está como conectada nivel cozumeleños tiene representación cien por ciento de nuestra cultura, de nuestra bella naturaleza y también llama mucho la atención que la mayoría de las piezas son rescatadas y que están utilizando técnicas ancestrales, o sea no solo muestra la naturaleza, lo hermoso que es sino que la espiritualidad de los dioses mayas Cohen, Chacmol, es precioso. Estaba platicando con el artista que sus piezas no están barnizadas sino un brillo, un acabado totalmente a mano, hay muchísimo trabajo atrás de cada obra.

Yo he estado en las actividades del museo desde muy pequeña; desde los diez años; en 

el teatro y talleres de verano, pintura.

 -¿Que te parecería que hubiera más en el ámbito cultural aquí en la isla?

-Me gustaría que hubiera lectura, más teatro, yo estaba muy contenta antes de pandemia con teatro. Jóvenes de mi generación aquí en la isla si están muy interesados en las actividades culturales, pero por una u otra razón no se enteran de las que hay, supongo si hay difusión pero no se enteran. Yo me tuve que enterar de boca en boca. La juventud si esta interesada por ver el arte, cada vez hay más personas interesadas en este tipo; diseño, arte digital y así aprecian mucho las artes visuales como la pintura, escultura. Por la situación que estamos, por la pandemia hay mucha sobreinformación y eso provoca que no la encuentres, es complicado tener un buen manejo de difusión.

- ¿Qué sentiste al ver la obra del maestro Shinzaburo Takeda en la otra sala? 

-Mucho orgullo, me sorprendió mucho, no sabía que había ese nivel de exposición aquí en la isla, pienso que hay mucho valor en conocer la historia que hay detrás, que te platiquen porque se hizo así la pintura, qué pensó el maestro.

-¿Deseas comentar algo más?

-Vengan a las exposiciones de la isla tienen muchas y muy buenas exhibiciones sigan la página web de la fundación y Art News Cozumel.

Cozumel Island Museum.

On Friday, May 28th the exhibition of sculptor Saul Jaime was inaugurated in a pleasant and cordial atmosphere, the attendees were pleased to appreciate the works of this artist who has been living on the island for several years and who loves with great passion. He has shown this love by participating as a teacher in workshops and courses for the people of Cozumel, awakening an interest in art in the society of San Miguel de Cozumel. One of the essential characteristics of his works is the detail that permeates each one of them, a painstaking care to highlight the intrinsic beauty of the wood he uses, whether rescued from the beaches of the island or acquired in another way. 

The following is an interview that Art News Cozumel did with two young Cozumelians who attended the opening night.     

Interview with Eli Acevedo

-I am a ninth semester student of environmental engineering.

-What is your opinion of this exhibition?

-I loved it, but something that caught my attention is precisely because of the subject of environmental engineering, because part of the works in this exhibition was catalogued as previous plant residue, it is revaluing, it is a super revaluation that is currently a work of art that is in a museum and something that the sculptor comments in his review that they are pieces of trees that were on the beach, in the street and that currently travels,  They could have been exhibited here, they could have been exhibited in other parts of the world and create a little awareness, raise awareness through art, because in his pieces is captured for example "The Cozumel girl" the wealth and treasure of the oceans that we have in Cozumel, the "Happy Dolphin" is putting in context issues that are important, that touch us all as human beings and largely as a society.

- What is your opinion about the artistic manifestations of the island, not only the visual ones? 

- I think there is a lack of more art, there is only one museum, we could have a museum of contemporary art, a museum of regional art, a museum of sculpture perhaps, I don't know, of different types, of different subcontextualizations and also pay more attention to poetry, music. With the pandemic, artistic and cultural activities were closed and altered in the world, but it was also an impulse because many artists emerged during this decade. From the contrast alone with themselves, to make a deep introspection perhaps referring to who I am, what I dedicate my time to, to revalue, to be more with my loved ones and it was like a very global respite in general, I think that from this we could have a transition to a more artistic Cozumel, I think.

-Speaking of poetry, what would you like in terms of poetry activities?

-A Poetry Club, we could see the way in which every Friday 7 P.M. 8:30 P.M. open mic, poetry or related, share a song, a story or a letter read it and it is going to be a message for a people, share it to a spectator. I think the most beautiful gift we humans have is to share knowledge, experiences, emotions, feelings, something that unites us all, we are all human, we all feel, we all have emotions, that connects us all, makes us beautiful and beautiful.

-Anything else you want to say?

That you should definitely visit this exhibition, it is a very rewarding experience to visit and appreciate the language of our roots through the artist Saul Jaime Martinez and also the incredible exhibition of Master Shinzaburo Takeda.

Interview with Sofía Reynoso

-My name is Sofía Reynoso and I am an eighth semester student of international business.

-Can you please give me your opinion of this exhibition?

-I found it very interesting, it is as if it were connected at a Cozumelian level, it has a hundred percent representation of our culture, of our beautiful nature, and it is also very interesting that most of the pieces are rescued and that they are using ancestral techniques, that is to say, it not only shows nature, how beautiful it is, but also the spirituality of the Mayan gods Cohen, Chacmol, it is precious. I was talking to the artist and he said that his pieces are not varnished, they have a shine, a totally handmade finish, there is a lot of work behind each piece.

I have been involved in the museum's activities since I was very little; since I was ten years old; in the theater and summer 

theater and summer workshops, painting.

 -What would you like to see more in the cultural field here on the island?

-I would like to see more reading, more theater, I was very happy before pandemic with theater. Young people of my generation here on the island are very interested in cultural activities, but for one reason or another they don't know about them, I suppose there is diffusion but they don't know about them. I had to find out by word of mouth. Young people are interested in art, there are more and more people interested in this type of art; design, digital art and so they appreciate visual arts such as painting, sculpture. Because of the situation we are in, because of the pandemic, there is a lot of overinformation and that causes you can't find it, it is difficult to have a good diffusion management.

- What did you feel when you saw the work of master Shinzaburo Takeda in the other room? 

-I was very proud, I was very surprised, I didn't know there was that level of exhibition here on the island, I think there is a lot of value in knowing the history behind it, that they tell you why the painting was made like that, what the master thought.
