Me doy cuenta que el arte es la actividad que guía mi día a día. He logrado fusionar el ejercicio creativo y las diversas técnicas, como parte integral de mi vida de una manera inconsciente.                                                                 Abel Vázquez

   "Herencias a través del color" del maestro Abel Vázquez es una bella exposición de pintura que expresa amplia sensibilidad creativa del autor en multiplicidad de colores brillantes, formas y texturas violentas (como lo define el autor) que crean mundos dinámicos y filosóficos de su interioridad, característica de hombres de tierras oaxaqueñas que interactuaron en la cotidianidad del mundo permanente de realidades y ensoñaciones desde su infancia.                                                                  

   Es decir, lo circundante de la naturaleza en su vasta conformaciones conocidas, como también en las  estructuras pocas ordinarias, como la observación y acción constante del campo entre los cuatro elementos de la naturaleza como es el caso del maíz relacionado con el fluir del sol y el cacao con la sombra, existiendo entre ellos conjugación con las mujeres, el antiguo y vigente simbolismo de la siembra femenina creativa, la portadora que nos mantiene vivos y perceptivos del mundo y el cosmos, como lo es en la integridad del todo en la psique y corazón del maestro Abel; el mundo ancestral mixteco, maya y mexica. El fruto de un árbol de tradiciones que impregnó permanentemente su alma para luego expresarlo en imágenes que involucran agradablemente al corazón del espectador.

Abel es un hombre curioso, como un niño imparable en la creación de ideas y mundos llenos de historias místicas. El lenguaje en sus obras es, cotidiano "naif" y explosivamente colorido, destacando su interés por la tierra y el espíritu.  Nace en Oaxaca donde  recibe de su abuela Mayora (quien labora como sanadora y consejera) gran influencia mística y se siente orgulloso de esto.

La entrevista a Abel Vázquez

-¿Cómo se percibe Usted mismo en este momento, después de los años ejerciendo su talento como creador de arte?

-Después de estar dedicado 45 años a la creación artística, me doy cuenta que el arte es la actividad que guía mi día a día. He logrado fusionar el ejercicio creativo y las diversas técnicas, como parte integral de mi vida de una manera inconsciente. No ha habido un propósito que yo haya querido definirme como artista. Simplemente se dio y ahora puedo representar todos los elementos y vivencias que hay a mi alrededor por medio de la pintura y otras técnicas de las artes visuales, como son la escultura, el dibujo, la acuarela, la gráfica, así como técnicas artesanales como el tejido de tapiz, así como expresiones más contemporáneas como el maquillaje corporal incluido en mis discursos creativos.

.¿Qué le motivó a aceptar la invitación que le hizo el museo de la Isla de Cozumel para exponer su obra en sus instalaciones?

-El museo de Cozumel, es muy reconocido a nivel nacional por el interés de dar a conocer su historia, así como su cultura y para mi me resultó muy honorable recibir la invitación por parte de sus directivos.

Conozco la trayectoria de algunos colegas como el maestro Takeda y Rolando Rojas, que han estado exhibidos aquí. Me parece que el compromiso de difundir la cultura, no sólo de la isla, el caribe y la península, sino el interés de mostrar nuestra cultura a nivel nacional, de una forma tan digna, es muy importante. Sobre todo, pensando en la gran posibilidad de recibir el flujo de visitantes de todo el mundo, me brinda una gran oportunidad de dar a conocer mi trabajo.

-¿Cómo percibió la respuesta del público asistente en la inauguración de la exposición del museo?

-Un grupo importante de gentes, tomando en cuenta la situación de la pandemia, una atención muy cálida y profesional por parte de las autoridades del museo. Hubo una buena organización, una atención de excelente calidad por parte de los trabajadores del museo, así como de las autoridades. Se logró una comunicación muy importante y emotiva con el público asistente.

-¿Qué le pareció el trabajo museístico realizado por Sako y de todo el equipo del museo de la isla?

-Sako y su equipo de trabajo han mostrado un profesionalismo impecable. Se observó y definió cada detalle del montaje, iluminación, museografía y cuidado de la obra. Se puso atención en la mejor disposición para lucir de la mejor manera cada una de las piezas.

-Sería tan amable de compartir ¿cuál es el siguiente proyecto que tiene en el futuro?

-Seguir trabajando para responder a invitaciones que tenemos en puerta para los Estados Unidos en Chicago y Miami, así como en Cd, de México.

-Agradecer a la Directora del museo de la Isla, Lic. Isela Carrillo y a la museógrafa Sako, por tomarme en cuenta para ser parte de los artistas que tienen la oportunidad de ser dados a conocer hacia muchas partes del mundo, a partir de este recinto que deja ver con gran dignidad una muestra de lo que es nuestro trabajo.

Inheritance through color 

Painting exhibition of Master Abel Vázquez

I realize that art is the activity that guides my daily life. I have managed to merge the creative exercise and the diverse techniques, as an integral part of my life in an unconscious way.                                                                 Abel Vázquez

   "Herencias a través del color" by Abel Vázquez is a beautiful painting exhibition that expresses the author's wide creative sensibility in a multiplicity of bright colors, shapes and violent textures (as defined by the author) that create dynamic and philosophical worlds of his interiority, characteristic of men from Oaxacan lands who interacted in the daily life of the permanent world of realities and dreams since their childhood.                                                                     

That is, the surrounding of nature in its vast known conformations, as well as in the few ordinary structures, such as the observation and constant action of the field between the four elements of nature as is the case of corn related to the flow of the sun and cocoa with the shadow, existing between them conjugation with women, the ancient and current symbolism of the creative female sowing, the carrier that keeps us alive and perceptive of the world and the cosmos, as it is in the integrity of the whole in the psyche and heart of the master Abel; the ancestral Mixtec, Maya and Mexica world. The fruit of a tree of traditions that permanently impregnated his soul to then express it in images that pleasantly engage the heart of the viewer.

Abel is a curious man, like an unstoppable child in the creation of ideas and worlds full of mystical stories. The language in his works is everyday "naif" and explosively colorful, highlighting his interest in the earth and the spirit.  He was born in Oaxaca where he receives from his grandmother Mayora (who works as a healer and counselor) great mystical influence and is proud of this.

The interview with Abel Vázquez

-How do you perceive yourself at this moment, after years of exercising your talent as an art creator?

-After 45 years dedicated to artistic creation, I realize that art is the activity that guides my day to day. I have managed to merge the creative exercise and the various techniques, as an integral part of my life in an unconscious way. There has not been a purpose that I wanted to define myself as an artist. It just happened and now I can represent all the elements and experiences that are around me through painting and other visual arts techniques, such as sculpture, drawing, watercolor, graphics, as well as craft techniques such as tapestry weaving, as well as more contemporary expressions such as body makeup included in my creative discourses.

What motivated you to accept the invitation made by the Cozumel Island Museum to exhibit your work in its facilities?

-The museum of Cozumel is very well known nationally for its interest in making its history and culture known, and I was very honored to receive the invitation from its directors.

I know the trajectory of some of my colleagues, such as Takeda and Rolando Rojas, who have been exhibited here. It seems to me that the commitment to spread the culture, not only of the island, the Caribbean and the peninsula, but the interest to show our culture at a national level, in such a dignified way, is very important. Above all, thinking about the great possibility of receiving the flow of visitors from all over the world, it gives me a great opportunity to make my work known.

-How did you perceive the public's response at the opening of the museum's exhibition?

-An important group of people, taking into account the pandemic situation, a very warm and professional attention from the museum authorities. There was a good organization, an excellent quality attention from the museum workers, as well as from the authorities. A very important and emotional communication with the public was achieved.

-What did you think of the museum work done by Sako and the whole team of the island museum?

-Sako and his team showed impeccable professionalism. Every detail of the assembly, lighting, museography and care of the work was observed and defined. Attention was paid to the best disposition to show off each of the pieces in the best possible way.

-Would you be so kind to share what is the next project you have in the future?

-Continue working to respond to invitations we have coming up in the United States in Chicago and Miami, as well as in Mexico City.

-Anything else you would like to add?

-Isela Carrillo and the museographer Sako, for taking me into account to be part of the artists who have the opportunity to be known to many parts of the world, from this enclosure that lets you see with great dignity a sample of what our work is. 

Master Abel Vazquez has been living in the city of Merida since 2005.

significant growth and solidity in his work.
