Exposición de mi madre
A los seis años mi madre, maestra de primaria y paisajista me inició en el dibujo. Crecí percibiendo los olores de las pinturas, aceites, jugando en un viejo caballete y descubriendo el secreto de como un lienzo en blanco podría transformarse en una ventana a mundos desconocidos. Siendo mi primera cómplice dentro del mundo de la pintura, aún conserva dibujos de mi primera infancia, metidos entre las hojas de sus libros en alguno de los libreros.
Yvonne Aridjis creció en Contepec, Michoacán, rodeada de la naturaleza en todo su esplendor, ello le brindo su singular paleta de colores, pero sin duda, fue su paso por la tradicional escuela de pintura, escultura y grabado “La Esmeralda” y la Academia “Goya”, en la Ciudad de México, lo que le permitió pulir sus conocimientos técnicos.

Con las historias que me contaba, mientras pintábamos, me hablaba de museos, música, libros, teatro, que descubrió y disfruto en sus años de estudiante en la Ciudad de México y que sembraron en mí el anhelo de vivir esas mismas experiencias algún día.

rodeada de la naturaleza en todo su esplendor
Yvonne Aridjis ha desarrollado una carrera en las artes plásticas, donde se ha especializado en promover las bellezas naturales de Michoacán. A través de la serie de su creación “Cielos y Paisajes de Michoacán”, que ha sido presentada en destacados recintos del país e incluso del extranjero y en donde rescata la memoria visual de esta zona del Estado, plasmando sus monumentos históricos, sus cerros, sus ríos, sus valles, con el único objetivo que estas imágenes no se pierdan en el tiempo.

Al observar una obra de Yvonne Aridjis podemos notar sus pinceladas amplias que nos transmite la esencia de las cosas, pero en particular resaltan el movimiento. Cada parte de las composiciones de la artista remite al movimiento y no a un instante congelado en el tiempo. Una tormenta a punto de caer, el viento, el vuelo de las aves, todas sus obras están salpicadas de eventos por suceder y que dan la impresión de que cada árbol, nube, o piedra que las compone está es su lugar, pero sin que las imágenes las contengan en una escena inmóvil.
Entre los reconocimientos que ha ganado la pintora por su trayectoria como artista plástica podemos destacar que, el año pasado, en el marco de la 164 edición de la Feria de las Flores en San Ángel y cuya fiesta fue designada como Patrimonio Cultural Intangible de la Ciudad de México, Aridjis se hizo acreedora al 1er lugar por unanimidad del jurado calificador de este concurso de relevancia a nivel nacional e internacional.
Entrevista realizada a Yvonne Aridjis por Art News Cozumel
-¿Podría decirme por favor que le pareció la inauguración de su obra en el museo de la isla?
-Tener la oportunidad de exponer en el museo de la Isla de Cozumel es una gran experiencia tanto personal como artística, ya que es un lugar exuberante en belleza y en calidez de los que lo integran y visitan.
-¿Qué es lo que más le gustó de la interacción con el público asistente?
El público es maravilloso, porque hace un esfuerzo en acudir en conocer tu trabajo, en buscar una empatía o un diálogo con la obra. Hubo un recibimiento cálido por parte del público, preguntas sobre mi entorno, las técnicas.
-¿Piensa que se cumplió con la visión que tenía usted contemplada para ser instalada sus obras en el museo, es decir todo lo relacionado con el recibimiento y la museografía.
-Pienso que la curaduría es más que excepcional, los cuadros están colocados de manera que logran la comunicación con el espectador, por grupos.
-¿Algo más que desee agregar?
-Me agradó mucho que hay público extranjero y aprecian mediante las obras, las riquezas de México. Agradezco la calidez y el trato hacia mí, de parte de la directora del Museo, la curadora y todo el personal. Es una experiencia enriquecedora. He expuesto en muchos sitios del país y en El Museo de la Isla por segunda vez y ha habido un trato formidable y hacia mí obra. Ver mí obra colgada con una gran curaduría, fue de impacto. Me encantó. Creo que Sako hace resaltar lo mejor del artista y de su obra

Observing the works of Yvonne Aridijis, the author generously transmits what she loves with intensity; Michoacan landscaping. She is fulfilling her self-assigned mission; to capture the identity and history of those regions where she lives through the immortalization of a painting.
Below I share the full text written by her son Rodrigo Aridjis to illustrate his mother's work, which is currently on display at the Museum of Cozumel Island.
My mother's exhibition
"All children are born artists, the difficult thing is to remain an artist when we grow up" Pablo Picasso.
At the age of six my mother, an elementary school teacher and landscape artist, initiated me in drawing. I grew up perceiving the smells of paints, oils, playing on an old easel and discovering the secret of how a blank canvas could be transformed into a window to unknown worlds. Being my first accomplice in the world of painting, she still keeps drawings of my early childhood, tucked between the pages of her books in one of the bookcases.
Yvonne Aridjis grew up in Contepec, Michoacán, surrounded by nature in all its splendor, which gave her her unique palette of colors, but undoubtedly, it was her time at the traditional school of painting, sculpture and engraving "La Esmeralda" and the "Goya" Academy in Mexico City, which allowed her to polish her technical knowledge.
With the stories she told me, while we were painting, she told me about museums, music, books, theater, which she discovered and enjoyed during her student years in Mexico City and which planted in me the longing to live those same experiences someday.
Yvonne Aridjis has developed a career in the visual arts, where she has specialized in promoting the natural beauties of Michoacán. Through the series of her creation "Skies and Landscapes of Michoacán", which has been presented in prominent venues in the country and even abroad and where she rescues the visual memory of this area of the state, capturing its historical monuments, its hills, its rivers, its valleys, with the sole objective that these images are not lost in time.

Yvonne Aridjis is an artist who seeks to capture the dynamics of light and shadow in different natural spaces. The majority of her compositions refer us to the blue skies, which announce storms as well as warm summer afternoons.
When observing a work by Yvonne Aridjis we can notice her broad brushstrokes that transmit the essence of things, but in particular highlight the movement. Each part of the artist's compositions refers to movement and not to an instant frozen in time. A storm about to fall, the wind, the flight of birds, all her works are dotted with events about to happen and give the impression that each tree, cloud, or stone that composes them is in its place, but without the images contain them in a still scene.
Among the recognitions that the painter has won for her career as a plastic artist we can highlight that last year, in the framework of the 164th edition of the Flower Fair in San Angel, whose festival was designated as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mexico City, Aridjis was awarded 1st place unanimously by the jury of this contest of national and international relevance.
Interview with Yvonne Aridjis by Art News Cozumel
-Could you please tell me what did you think about the opening of your work in the museum of the island?
-Having the opportunity to exhibit at the Cozumel Island Museum is a great experience both personally and artistically, since it is a place exuberant in beauty and in the warmth of those who visit it.
-What did you like most about the interaction with the public?
The public is wonderful, because they make an effort to get to know your work, to seek empathy or a dialogue with the work. There was a warm reception from the public, questions about my environment, the techniques.
-Do you think that the vision you had in mind for the installation of your works in the museum was fulfilled, that is, everything related to the reception and the museography?
-I think the curatorship is more than exceptional, the paintings are placed in such a way that they achieve communication with the spectator, by groups.
-Anything else you would like to add?
-I was very pleased that there is a foreign public and that they appreciate the richness of Mexico through the works. I appreciate the warmth and treatment I received from the director of the Museum, the curator and all the staff. It is an enriching experience. I have exhibited in many places in the country and in El Museo de la Isla for the second time and there has been a formidable treatment to me and to my work. Seeing my work hung with a great curatorship was a great impact. I loved it. I think Sako brings out the best of the artist and his work.
