Interesante resulta apreciar los registros de la vida de un comunidad, porque así se enriquece la cultural  de cualquier  pueblo del mundo, también se logra tener una visión más amplia del acontecer de la gente a nivel global. Existen personas que la vida le ha otorgado una extraordinaria cualidad de observación de los entornos donde habita y que lo puede expresar a través de técnicas visuales artísticas, así es el caso de Charley Cunningham creadora de arte pictórico que en esta ocasión comparte su trabajo inspirado en la vida de Cozumel con la exposición "Mi musa es Cozumel". En esta exhibición Charley nos hace comprender y valorar aún más lo habitual, lo público, la interacción de lo que se habita en la Isla. La mayoría de sus obras tienen la pasión por la tierra que ama "Ahora trato de conseguir nombres. Adoro a la gente de Cozumel que me hace pintar. Me siento bendecida"

Entrevista a Charley Cunningham

¿Puede indicarme por favor su nombre y a qué se dedica?   

-Hola. Soy Charley Cunningham. Soy profesora de arte jubilado y administrador de escuelas públicas en Oklahoma y Texas.

Arcoíris para el Carnaval

¿Podría hablarme de los cuadros que expone actualmente en el museo? 

- Son de muchas fotos que he tomado a lo largo de los años de personas, lugares y fauna. Quería pintar Cozumel tal y como es hoy, incluyendo la tierra, la gente y las leyendas. Capturar la belleza de Cozumel

- ¿Qué le pareció la inauguración de su exposición "Mi musa es Cozumel" en el museo de la isla? 

-Fue impresionante. SAKO hizo un trabajo maravilloso exponiendo mi trabajo y la música y los aperitivos fueron perfectos para retratar la belleza del pueblo.

- ¿Le gustó la respuesta de la gente que asistió a la inauguración? ¿Qué comentarios hicieron sobre sus cuadros?

-Estuve muy contenta con todos los que vinieron y muchos que enviaron mensajes y flores. Los comentarios fueron muy elogiosos y a la gente le encanta ver cosas y personas con las que se puede relacionar personalmente. 

 

Charley recibe su reconocimiento

- ¿Le gustó el trato que recibió de todo el personal del museo durante y después del proceso de su exposición allí? 

-La gente del museo fue maravillosa, servicial y siempre amable. El personal que sirvió los aperitivos y las bebidas fue encantador. 

La exhibición consta de 34 obras, 

incluidos cuatro cráneos de toros decorados. 

- ¿Le gustó la museografía? 

-Fue más de lo que podía esperar y se lo agradezco con creces.

que expresan su belleza

- ¿Algo más que quieras añadir a la entrevista?  

-Sí que me gustaría saber quiénes son las personas para asegurarme de que han visto sus cuadros. Tengo información sobre el niño con el traje de Carnaval es. Pero no del vestido amarillo ni del hombre del algodón de azúcar ni de la señora que cocina en la transversal ni de la niña del vestido de carnaval del arco iris. El dibujo de la señora maya que conocí en su hijo trabaja en Playa del Carmen.  Ahora trato de conseguir nombres. Adoro a la gente de Cozumel que me hace pintar. Me siento bendecida.

Entrevista a Cristina  Mota  Rodríguez  asistente a la exposición 

-Mi nombre es  Cristina, y soy Bióloga actualmente trabajo como profesora en la Universidad de Quintana Roo. 

-Me gusto muchísimo, la parte ambiental es la más sobresaliente, las obras sobre la naturaleza  son las que más me gustaron. la pintura del Pulpo me gusta mucho, como capta los detalles de manera tan bella y la parte social también me llamo mucho la atención, las pinturas del traje típico, logró captar el carnaval, me agradó mucho la técnica de Charley.

-¿Ya conocías a la obra de Charley y a ella?

-No, no conocía su trabajo, es la primera vez que veo su obra. Vi la convocatoria en el facebook y me llamó mucho la atención y decidí venir a verla.

-¿Te parece bien el mostrar la naturaleza con este tipo de pinturas. atrae a la gente a ella, disfrutar de ella y respetarla?

-A través de la pintura la fotografía y todas las expresiones artísticas yo creo que sí son una forma de acercar a la comunidad porque no es fácil ir a bucear y encontrarse con todos estos animales, con esta fauna, flora, creo que es una forma muy bonita de mostrarla y desde la perspectiva del artista un trato especial.

Es interesante como puede captar la cotidianidad mexicana, es claro que ella lleva muchos años aquí y se a familiarizado con las costumbres las a adoptado como propia.

-¿Que te parece el Museo ya remodelado?

-Sí, lo visité justo antes de la pandemia a una exposición como tal y me da mucho gusto ver que siguen renovando, hace tiempo que no venía a una exposición en general, estoy muy contenta de haber venido a esta exposición.

-¿Algo más que quieras decir?

-Pues invitar a la gente a que visite estos espacios, a este acercamiento al arte de expresiones artísticas, a aprovechar que el museo hace estos eventos de manera gratuita, para toda la familia, pueden conocer a la gente de la isla y extranjeros que tienen este amor por las artes y aprovechar esta oportunidad que da el museo.

It is interesting to appreciate the records of the life of a community, because it enriches the culture of any people in the world, it also gives a broader view of the events of the people globally. There are people that life has given them an extraordinary quality of observation of the environments where they live and that can express it through artistic visual techniques, such is the case of Charley Cunningham, creator of pictorial art that on this occasion shares her work inspired by the life of Cozumel with the exhibition "My muse is Cozumel". In this exhibition Charley makes us understand and value even more the usual, the public, the interaction of what is inhabited on the island. Most of his works have the passion for the land he loves "Now I try to get names. I love the people of Cozumel who make me paint. I feel blessed"  

Interview with Charley Cunningham

Can you please tell me your name and what you do?   

-Hello, I'm Charley Cunningham. I'm a retired art teacher and public school administrator in Oklahoma and Texas.

Could you tell me about the paintings you are currently exhibiting at the museum? 

- They are of many photos I have taken over the years of people, places and wildlife. I wanted to paint Cozumel as it is today, including the land, the people and the legends. Capture the beauty of Cozumel.

- What did you think of the opening of your exhibition "My Muse is Cozumel" at the island's museum? 

-It was impressive. SAKO did a wonderful job exhibiting my work and the music and hors d'oeuvres were perfect to portray the beauty of the town.

- How did you like the response from the people who attended the opening? What comments did they make about your paintings?

-I was very happy with everyone who came and many who sent messages and flowers. The comments were very complimentary and people love to see things and people they can personally relate to. 

- How did you like the treatment you received from all the museum staff during and after the process of your exhibition there? 

-The people at the museum were wonderful, helpful and always friendly. The staff who served the snacks and drinks were delightful. 

- Did you like the museography? 

-It was more than I could have hoped for and I more than appreciated it. 

- Anything else you would like to add to the interview?  

-Yes, I would like to know who the people are to make sure they have seen your paintings. I have information about the boy in the Carnival costume is. But not of the yellow dress or the cotton candy man or the lady cooking in the transversal or the little girl in the rainbow carnival dress. The drawing of the Mayan lady I met in her son works in Playa del Carmen.  Now I am trying to get names. I love the people of Cozumel who make me paint. I feel blessed.

-My name is Cristina, and I am a biologist currently working as a professor at the University of Quintana Roo. 

-I liked it very much, the environmental part is the most outstanding, the works on nature are the ones I liked the most. I like the painting of the Octopus very much, as it captures the details in such a beautiful way and the social part also called my attention, the paintings of the typical costume, it managed to capture the carnival, I liked Charley's technique very much.

-Did you already know her and Charley's work?

-No, I didn't know her work, it's the first time I see her work. I saw the call on facebook and it caught my attention and I decided to come and see it.

-Do you think it's good to show nature with this kind of paintings. does it attract people to it, enjoy it and respect it?

-Through painting, photography and all artistic expressions I think they are a way to bring the community closer because it is not easy to go diving and meet all these animals, fauna, flora, I think it is a very nice way to show it and from the artist's perspective a special treatment.

It is interesting how she can capture the Mexican daily life, it is clear that she has been here for many years and has become familiar with the customs and has adopted them as her own.

-What do you think of the remodeled Museum?

-Yes, I visited it just before the pandemic for an exhibition as such and I am very pleased to see that they are still renovating, it has been a long time since I came to an exhibition in general, I am very happy to have come to this exhibition.

-Anything else you would like to say?

-Well, I would like to invite people to visit these spaces, to this approach to the art of artistic expressions, to take advantage of the fact that the museum makes these events free of charge, for the whole family, they can meet people from the island and foreigners who have this love for the arts and take advantage of this opportunity that the museum gives.
