"A pesar de la facilidad que puede significar acceder a cualquier pieza de arte, música, literatura o cine desde la comodidad de nuestras pantallas personales, con esta acción se está perdiendo la vivencia colectiva (no solo simultánea) de la cultura, algo que modela profundamente nuestra relación con ella.
Vivir en comunidad las manifestaciones artísticas es necesario por lo que implica en términos de interacción humana y compañía emocional, como también porque nos pone en contacto con otras miradas ante lo que experimentamos, con otras formas de relacionarse con el arte que nos dan nuestras amistades o maestros.
En la experiencia colectiva del arte rara vez nos enfrentamos en soledad a la obra: siempre hay algún tipo de mediación que influye sobre nuestra evaluación de lo que vemos, desde el aplauso o abucheo del público en un concierto hasta la conversación inculta o la guía profesional frente a los cuadros de un museo."                                                                                                                             Nicolás Pernett

Celebrando

Durante la inauguración 

El Viernes 14 de Abril en el Museo de la Isla se presentó  la obra participante del concurso Maravillas de la Naturaleza 2023 con su respectiva premiación, Así también los ganadores del concurso literario Memorias de una Isla. La entrega de dichos galardones fue realizada por el director general de la FPMC José Luis Chacón Méndez. estuvo presente también  Isela Carrillo directora del museo y Sako museógrafa del museo. y el consejero Alex Franco de la FPMC. 

los participantes se mostraron alegres y satisfechos durante la noche de gala, la mayor parte de ellos en compañía de sus familiares y amigos cercanos, lo que generó  ambiente familiar y amable.  

Se puede decir que todos los trabajos mostraron buena manufactura tanto en lo creativo como en lo técnico, aquí se manifiesta en lo perfecto que hubo Cualitativo y no cuantitativo.

Obviamente todos los autores presentaron formas y colores que subrayan la belleza y la variedad de la riqueza natural de la isla. Se puede considerar que fue cumplido el objetivo del concurso pictórico.

Y en lo referente al concurso literario podría decirse lo mismo, un valor significativo de lo presentado, donde todos lo participantes contribuyeron con cariño el fortalecer el patrimonio cultural de la isla.

-¿Que nos puedes comentar sobre haber ganado el primer lugar, y nos puedes platicar un poco sobre tu obra con la que participaste, en que te inspiraste la técnica etc.?
- El título del cuadro es: Selva con  Pizote, tortuga, mariposas, Paloma cabeza blanca y Cerambycidae. La medida es 80x60 cm. y la técnica es oleo sobre lienzo. Lo que me inspira en todos mis cuadros es el amor por la naturaleza y la esperanza, al parecer vana, que no sea más maltratada. Los elementos que puse representan, a parte la vegetación exuberante,  las clases de los animales de la selva: Vertebrados (mamíferos, aves y reptiles) y Invertebrados (insectos: mariposas y escarabajo).

-¿Qué te pareció la producción exhibida de los concursantes?

-Algunos cuadros me gustaron, otros menos, pero en general una buena producción.

-¿Piensas que se logró el objetivo del concurso en cuanto a la evolución del mismo desde ediciones anteriores cómo nivel cualitativo y no cuantitativo?

-No conozco la producción de los años anteriores, no podría hacer una comparación pero me pareció una buena iniciativa.

-¿Cómo viste la respuesta del público asistente ante las obras expuestas?

-Vi a la gente que estaba muy interesada. 

-¿Qué te pareció la museografía que realizó la museógrafa Sako en esta exposición?
-El trabajo que hace Sako es siempre un excelente trabajo.

-¿Te gustó la celebración en general de la actividad del museo?
-Sí, me gustó mucho, en un ambiente muy acogedor.

Fernando Luit

-¿Que nos puedes comentar sobre haber ganado el segundo lugar, y nos puedes platicar un poco sobre tu obra con la que participaste, en que te inspiraste la técnica etc.?

-Estoy muy agradecido  haber obtenido el segundo lugar, este año quise hacer algo exótico, algo que desde la primera vista mi obra fuese diferente, destacado. Por lo que ahora mi bastidor tuviese forma de octágono y luego usar mi fondo crema en representación de la arena de la isla y mis dos personajes con colores llamativos que son la dualidad (hombre mujer) Mujer representada en agua y hombre representando la tierra. Mis tres elementos mostrados destacados del caribe. Cada uno con sus respectivos animales emblemáticos de la isla. la obra esta realizada con una técnica mixta y con un toque de textura relieve.

-¿Qué te pareció la producción exhibida de los concursantes?
-  Adecuada al nivel del concurso.

-¿Piensas que se logró el objetivo del concurso en cuanto a la evolución del mismo desde ediciones anteriores cómo nivel cualitativo y no cuantitativo?

-Sí, claro, nos ayuda a conocer  más la variedad de la fauna de Cozumel, pero si estoy notando la falta de interés de los artistas.

-¿Cómo viste la respuesta del público asistente ante las obras expuestas?
-Muy buena, lo que me encanta es el asombro de los asistentes al ver obras llamativas u originales, bellas y el tiempo que se toma la gente de observar  cada detalle.

-¿Qué te pareció la museografía que realizó la museógrafa Sako en esta exposición?
 -Muy buena en cuanto a las mamparas el color les dio un realce a las obras

-¿Te gustó la celebración en general de la actividad del museo?

- No tanto, fue algo incomodo el lugar donde se desarrollo la ceremonia preferiría el teatro. 

Nareni Trejo 

Nareni Trejo y su obra "El color es vida y la muerte es blanca"

-Primero me siento feliz, agradecida y valorizada por haber obtenido el tercer lugar.
La obra que realicé para el concurso, es un paisaje marino  que como personaje principal es el coral, así cómo de toda la demás fauna de coexisten lleno de colores vivos, colores neones, colores que brillan por si mismos, y a lo lejos se observa el donde marino que remonta a lo sublime del mar. El título de la obra es "El color es vida y la muerte es blanca" y hago referencia a la problemática que tenemos con nuestros arrecifes de Cozumel, El blanqueamiento del coral y  cuando un coral muere queda de color blanco y pierde todo su color. Es una manera de concientizar al espectador. Con respecto a la técnica es una obra realista en acrílico con pigmentos fosforescente  luminiscente e iridiscente.  
 
-¿Qué te pareció la producción exhibida de los concursantes?
-Me pareció una exhibición muy amena y emblemática, Cada artista tanto nuevos como con trayectoria nos remitieron las maravillas que nos otorga y aporta la naturaleza de está isla, desde los pequeños seres, desde los insectos, que son parte importante del ecosistema, hasta los majestuosos animales marinos, cada uno de los artistas nos los represento con distintas técnicas, y sobre todo cada uno le dio su sello que los distingue como artistas.

-¿Crees que fue de calidad tanto de técnica y creatividad?
-Claro que sí hubo obras con calidad en sus trabajos, desde obras muy pulcras hasta  desmesuradas en el detalle, otras con un buen acabado de empaste, y otras en donde nos enseñaban sus procesos creativos como bocetos, pero cada una de las obras fue exhibida adecuadamente, a pesar de que todas son procesos y técnicas diferentes, ninguna de ellas carece de creatividad.

-¿Piensas que se logró el objetivo del concurso en cuanto a la evolución del mismo desde ediciones anteriores Cómo nivel cualitativo y no cuantitativo?.
-Si, siempre se ha logrado el objetivo, que es poder dar un espacio a los artistas para poder exponer dentro de las instalaciones del museo, y albergar a los artistas locatarios, ya que es una convocatoria abierta.
Así mismo hemos podido observar la trayectoria de distintos artistas y artistas nuevos.

-¿Cómo viste la respuesta del público asistente ante las obras expuestas?

-La respuesta del público fue muy cordial y acogedora, fue muy gratificante cómo recorrían la exhibición y observaban cada una de las obras.

-¿Qué te pareció la museografía que realizó la museógrafa Sako en esta exposición?
-Hizo un excelente trabajo de museografía, desde su curaduría, dónde nos muestra una exhibición muy equilibrada y armoniosa, haciendo una composición con cada una de las obras de los participantes.  Así como un trabajo pulcro dándole acada obra el valor  que se merece.

-¿Te gustó la celebración en general de la actividad del museo?

-Fue una velada muy agradable, desde el inicio con el atardecer de fondo, un delicioso banquete, un discurso breve por parte del directivo del museo. Ya que fue en un espacio abierto el recinto de inicio fue un poco confuso ya que estaba muy reducido el espació pero con un excelente fondo.

-Algo más que quieras decir?

-Me da mucho gusto que  se célebre cada año el concurso de maravillas de la naturaleza, me hubiera gustado que participarán más artistas locales, ya que es un espacio libre, dónde pueden exhibir.

-¿Qué te pareció la producción exhibida de los concursantes?

-Muy variada, creo que el museo siempre ha tenido la misión de recibir a todos y eso es motivante. 

-¿Crees que fue de calidad tanto de técnica y creatividad?

- Obviamente no, pero es parte del aprendizaje y del crecimiento. Hay artistas que he visto evolucionar con el tiempo. 

-¿Piensas que se logró el objetivo del concurso en cuanto a la evolución del mismo desde ediciones anteriores Cómo nivel cualitativo y no cuantitativo?.

- Creí que el tener abierta el espacio a todos sin excepción tiene sus bemoles, como estar estancados en esta Expo anual dada la afluencia que atrae desde amateurs y noveles artistas hasta consumados. 

-¿Cómo viste la respuesta del público asistente ante las obras expuestas?

 -Este año muy pobre. No se si la publicidad o cierta depresión post pandemia. 

-¿Qué te pareció la museografía que realizó la museógrafa Sako en esta exposición?

-Admirado de su capacidad para discernir entre obras tan variadas. 

No creo que sea fácil y hace un gran trabajo.

-¿Te gustó la celebración en general de la actividad del museo?

-El evento mezclado con el 36 aniversario. Un poco escueto y cansado el protocolo. Pero es lo qué hay. 

-Algo más que quieras decir?

-Agradecido siempre con los compañeros del museo que dan su mejor esfuerzo para que las cosas salgan bien. Es sabido que son los que dan la cara de administraciones buenas y malas.

Alfonso Viladiu

Alfonso Viladiu Ramírez en esta noche de gala durante la inauguración recibió una enorme sorpresa al ser llamado a recibir un reconocimiento por parte del museo por 36 años de estar interactuando con dicha institución. Participando en las exposiciones y asistir también en otras actividades del museo. Compartimos la entrevista que  Art News Cozumel.

-¿Cómo fue que te acercaste a las actividades del museo?

-Fue hace 36 años, regresaba de una estancia laboral en el extranjero, donde redescubrí mi afición por el dibujo artístico, escuché darían unos talleres de introducción a la pintura, incluía acrílico, acuarela, pastel étc. teatro,  étc. me apunté, descubrí mi amor al arte.

¿Qué opinión tienes desde ese entonces  lo que haz presenciado en el museo?

-Maravilloso, el mundo de las bellas artes, música, danza, teatro, pintura, etc.

-¿Qué es lo que más te a agradado de ello?

- Conocer a tantos artistas, músicos, poder asistir a exposiciones y eventos, que me nutren el alma.

-En cuanto a lo que se refiere dentro de las actividades que te han invitado a participar el museo que experiencias agradables nos puedes comentar?

-Son muchas, aprender otras técnicas y artesanías, mi primera exposición individual, ver mis trabajos en las paredes del salón expuestos haber vendido una acuarela.

-¿Crees que el museo es muy importante para el desarrollo de la sociedad de Cozumel? 

-Muy cierto, la cultura y el arte unen una comunidad, encausando los talentos de los jóvenes y adultos hacia el pueblo y el mundo.

-¿Nos puedes comunicar algunas anécdotas que hayas vivido dentro de la comunidad de artistas, público etc. en el museo? 

-Son tantas! como haber conocido al genial pintor y muralista Raúl Anguiano, su obra y charla con los artistas, al escritor Carlos Monsiváis y magnífica conferencia, los amigos de la trova y pepe charles nos hacía cantar y participar poesía magnífico director, al maestro  Navarro y sus obras de teatro juvenil y adultos a Agnes Aguilar y sus clases de artesanías cada fin de año!! Genial.

-Qué te pareció el que el museo te haya dado un merecido reconocimiento por tu interacción en el durante 36 años?

-Pues un honor me agrado mucho fue una sorpresa muy linda que valoro muchísimo. Considero al museo mi Alma mater en las artes, Ser parte de la promoción y difusión de la cultura entre la comunidad y jóvenes talentos que han encontrado su vocación en el museo me llenan de alegría y orgullo.

- ¿Algo más que quieras agregar?

-Ojalá que se le destinen más presupuesto a los creadores y cursos, talleres en las colonias , traer maestros en diversas técnicas etc.

"Despite the ease of accessing any piece of art, music, literature or cinema from the comfort of our personal screens, with this action we are losing the collective experience (not only simultaneous) of culture, something that deeply shapes our relationship with it.

Living artistic manifestations in community is necessary because of what it implies in terms of human interaction and emotional companionship, as well as because it puts us in contact with other ways of looking at what we experience, with other ways of relating to art that our friends or teachers give us.

In the collective experience of art we rarely face the work alone: there is always some kind of mediation that influences our evaluation of what we see, from the applause or booing of the audience at a concert to the uneducated conversation or the professional guide in front of the paintings in a museum."                                                                                                                             Nicolas Pernett

On Friday, April 14, at the Museo de la Isla, the works participating in the Wonders of Nature 2023 contest were presented with their respective awards, as well as the winners of the Memories of an Island literary contest. The presentation of these awards was made by the general director of the FPMC José Luis Chacón Méndez. Also present were Isela Carrillo, director of the museum, Sako, museographer of the museum, and Alex Franco, advisor of the FPMC. 

the participants were happy and satisfied during the gala evening, most of them in the company of their families and close friends, which generated a friendly family atmosphere.  

It can be said that all the works showed good workmanship both creatively and technically, here it is manifested in how perfect there was Qualitative and not quantitative.

Obviously all the authors presented shapes and colors that underline the beauty and variety of the natural wealth of the island. It can be considered that the objective of the pictorial contest was fulfilled.

And as for the literary contest, the same could be said, a significant value of what was presented, where all participants contributed with affection to strengthen the cultural heritage of the island.

Giacomo Bellucci

-What can you tell us about winning the first place, and can you tell us a little about your work with which you participated, what inspired you, the technique, etc.?

- The title of the painting is: Jungle with Pizote, turtle, butterflies, white-headed pigeon and Cerambycidae. The size is 80x60 cm. and the technique is oil on canvas. What inspires me in all my paintings is the love for nature and the hope, apparently vain, that it will no longer be mistreated. The elements that I put represent, apart from the exuberant vegetation, the kinds of animals of the jungle: Vertebrates (mammals, birds and reptiles) and Invertebrates (insects: butterflies and beetles).

-What did you think of the contestants' exhibited production?

-I liked some of the paintings, others less, but in general a good production.

-Do you think that the objective of the contest was achieved in terms of the evolution of the contest since previous editions as a qualitative and not quantitative level?

-I don't know the production of previous years, I couldn't make a comparison but I thought it was a good initiative.

-How did you see the public's response to the works exhibited?

-I saw that people were very interested. 

-What did you think of the museography that the museographer Sako did in this exhibition?

-Sako's work is always excellent.

-Did you like the general celebration of the museum's activity?

-Yes, I liked it very much, in a very cozy atmosphere.

Fernando Luit

-What can you tell us about winning second place, and can you tell us a little about your work with which you participated, what inspired you, the technique, etc.?

-I am very grateful to have obtained the second place, this year I wanted to do something exotic, something that from the first sight my work would be different, outstanding. So now my frame was octagon shaped and then use my cream background representing the sand of the island and my two characters with bright colors that are duality (male female) Woman represented in water and man representing the earth. My three elements shown highlighted elements of the Caribbean. Each one with their respective emblematic animals of the island. The work is made with a mixed technique and with a touch of relief texture.

-What did you think of the contestants' production?

- Adequate to the level of the contest.

-Do you think that the objective of the contest was achieved in terms of its evolution from previous editions as a qualitative and not quantitative level?

-Yes, of course, it helps us to know more about the variety of Cozumel's fauna, but I am noticing a lack of interest from the artists.

-How did you see the response of the public to the exhibited works?

-Very good, what I love is the amazement of the attendees when they see striking or original, beautiful works and the time people take to observe every detail.

-What did you think of the museography that the museographer Sako did in this exhibition?

 -Very good in terms of the screens, the color enhanced the works.

-Did you like the general celebration of the museum's activity?

- Not so much, it was a bit uncomfortable the place where the ceremony took place, I would prefer the theater. 

Nareni Trejo

-First of all, I feel happy, grateful and valued for having obtained the third place.

The work I made for the contest, is a seascape that as main character is the coral, as well as all the other fauna that coexist full of bright colors, neon colors, colors that shine by themselves, and in the distance you can see the sea that goes back to the sublime of the sea. The title of the work is "Color is life and death is white" and I make reference to the problem we have with our reefs of Cozumel, coral bleaching and when a coral dies it is white and loses all its color. It is a way to make the viewer aware. Regarding the technique, it is a realistic work in acrylic with phosphorescent, luminescent and iridescent pigments.  

 -What did you think of the production exhibited by the contestants?

-I thought it was a very pleasant and emblematic exhibition, each artist, both new and experienced, showed us the wonders that nature gives us and contributes to this island, from the small beings, from the insects, which are an important part of the ecosystem, to the majestic marine animals, each one of the artists represented them with different techniques, and above all each one gave their stamp that distinguishes them as artists.

-Do you think it was of high quality in terms of technique and creativity?

-Of course there were works with quality in their work, from very neat works to excessive detail, others with a good finish, and others where they showed us their creative processes as sketches, but each of the works was properly exhibited, although they are all different processes and techniques, none of them lack creativity.

-Do you think that the objective of the contest was achieved in terms of the evolution of the contest since previous editions, how qualitative and not quantitative level?

-Yes, the objective has always been achieved, which is to provide a space for artists to exhibit within the museum's facilities, and to house local artists, since it is an open call.

We have also been able to observe the trajectory of different artists and new artists.

-How did you see the public's response to the exhibited works?

-The public's response was very cordial and welcoming, it was very gratifying how they walked through the exhibition and observed each of the works.

-What did you think of the museography done by museographer Sako in this exhibition?

-She did an excellent job of museography, from her curatorship, where she shows us a very balanced and harmonious exhibition, making a composition with each of the works of the participants.  As well as a neat work, giving each work the value it deserves.

-Did you like the overall celebration of the museum's activity?

-It was a very pleasant evening, from the beginning with the sunset in the background, a delicious banquet, a short speech by the museum's director. Since it was in an open space, the starting venue was a bit confusing since the space was very small, but with an excellent background.

-Anything else you would like to say?

-I am very pleased that the contest of wonders of nature is celebrated every year, I would have liked more local artists to participate, since it is a free space, where they can exhibit.

Arturo Castañeda

-What did you think of the production exhibited by the contestants?

-Very varied, I think the museum has always had the mission of welcoming everyone and that is motivating. 

-Do you think it was of high quality in terms of technique and creativity?

- Obviously not, but it is part of learning and growing. There are artists that I have seen evolve over time. 

-Do you think that the objective of the contest was achieved in terms of its evolution from previous editions in terms of quality and not quantity?

- I thought that having the space open to everyone without exception has its downsides, such as being stuck in this annual Expo given the influx that attracts from amateurs and novice artists to accomplished ones. 

-How did you see the response of the public to the works exhibited?

 -This year very poor. I don't know if it was the publicity or a certain post-pandemic depression. 

-What did you think of the museography that the museographer Sako did in this exhibition?

-I admired her ability to discern between such varied works. 

I don't think it's easy and she does a great job.

-Did you like the overall celebration of the museum's activity?

-The event mixed with the 36th anniversary. The protocol was a bit terse and tiring. But it is what it is. 

-Anything else you would like to say?

-I am always grateful to the colleagues of the museum who give their best effort to make things go well. It is known that they are the ones who give the face of good and bad administrations.

Alfonso Viladiu

Alfonso Viladiu Ramírez on this gala night during the inauguration received a huge surprise when he was called to receive recognition from the museum for 36 years of interacting with the institution. Participating in the exhibitions and also assisting in other activities of the museum. We share the interview that Art News Cozumel.

-How did you get involved in the museum's activities?

-It was 36 years ago, I was returning from a work stay abroad, where I rediscovered my love for artistic drawing, I heard there were some introductory workshops on painting, including acrylic, watercolor, pastel, etc. theater, etc. I signed up, I discovered my love for art.

-What is your opinion of what you have witnessed at the museum since then?

-Wonderful, the world of the fine arts, music, dance, theater, painting, etc.

-What has pleased you the most about it?

- Meeting so many artists, musicians, being able to attend exhibitions and events, which nourish my soul.

-As far as the activities you have been invited to participate in the museum are concerned, what pleasant experiences can you tell us about?

-There are many, learning other techniques and crafts, my first solo exhibition, seeing my work on the walls of the exhibition hall, having sold a watercolor.

-Do you think the museum is very important for the development of Cozumel's society? 

-Very true, culture and art unite a community, channeling the talents of young people and adults to the town and the world.

-Can you tell us some anecdotes that you have experienced within the community of artists, the public, etc. at the museum? 

There are so many! Like meeting the great painter and muralist Raúl Anguiano, his work and his talks with the artists, the writer Carlos Monsiváis and his magnificent conference, the friends of the trova and Pepe Charles made us sing and participate in poetry, magnificent director, maestro Navarro and his plays for youth and adults, Agnes Aguilar and her handicraft classes every year-end! Great.

-What did you think about the fact that the museum has given you a well-deserved recognition for your interaction with the museum for 36 years?

-It was a very nice surprise and I appreciate it very much. I consider the museum my Alma mater in the arts, being part of the promotion and dissemination of culture among the community and young talents who have found their vocation in the museum fills me with joy and pride.

- Anything else you would like to add?

-I wish they would allocate more budget to the creators and courses, workshops in the neighborhoods, bring teachers in various techniques, etc.
